TRANSFORMATION OF MANAGEMENT MODELS FOR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT IN GEOGRAPHICALLY DISTRIBUTED IT TEAMS

Keywords: geographically distributed teams, IT sector, professional development, Artificial intelligence, distributed leadership, digital transformation, inclusivity

Abstract

The article investigates the radical transformation of management models for professional development within geographically distributed IT teams amidst global digitalization and shifting work paradigms. The research identifies a critical transition from traditional hierarchical, bureaucratic models toward decentralized, lateral network structures characterized by shared responsibility and distributed ethical leadership. In this new environment, the managerial role evolves from a controller to a facilitator and mentor, where success is measured by the continuity of support integrated into digital interaction rather than formal experience transfer. A significant portion of the study focuses on the role of Artificial Intelligence as a primary catalyst for personalizing professional development at scale. The author highlights the shift from standard Learning Management Systems (LMS) to Learning Experience Platforms (LXP), which utilize machine learning algorithms to create relevant educational journeys based on an employee's performance, career goals, and current productivity. The analysis of global IT labor market trends for 2025-2026 confirms that physical location has become secondary to professional integration. The research addresses critical challenges such as the ‘glass ceiling’ and gender asymmetry in technical infrastructure roles, advocating for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) policies and specialized mentorship programs. Furthermore, the study examines the practical implementation of AI-driven tools by industry leaders, demonstrating how generative AI assistants and predictive analytics can improve user satisfaction and prevent professional burnout. Future vectors of transformation are proposed, including agentic learning, hybrid intelligence, and the development of machine-human collaboration skills. The author concludes that successful management in the IT sector requires creating a comprehensive ecosystem of opportunities that prioritizes psychological safety, continuous certification, and proactive stress management in the face of global crises and war-related challenges.
